Humanism

How and why are different celebrations, ceremonies and festivals important?

This week we have been learning about Humanism.  We found out that Humanists celebrate holidays but there is no religious aspect to them.  These celebrations are created so that each one is unique and personal.

Year 2 invented a new holiday and thought carefully about how they would celebrate this.

Humanists celebrate the birth of a child and choose guardians or mentors to support them and take a special interest in the child.  They make promises to the new baby.

Year 1 thought about promises that they would say to a new baby.

Have a look at some of the lovely promises Catfield thought of.
