September 2018

How and why are different celebrations, ceremonies and festivals important?

We are well underway with our first big question of the year and have been thinking carefully about what celebrations we know and how we celebrate them.

We have looked at the difference between a celebration, ceremony and festival, this is what we found out:

A ceremony is a formal gathering for a purpose like a wedding or even a funeral.
A festival is something that happens in a town or city and has a theme and sometimes events.
A celebration is a party where something is celebrated, it is usually informal.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be finding out about 4 different festivals/celebrations.  This week we found out about the Jewish festival of Passover.  Year 1 at Sutton acted out the story, have a look at some of the pictures below.

Here you will find out about R.E at our wonderful church schools.

I am hoping you will find this interesting, useful and get an idea of some of the learning our amazing children do.
